The wettest May in Oklahoma's history led to safety concerns by some about the Lake Overholser Dam.
A photo has been circulating on social media of the Dam. Lake Overholser is the city of Oklahoma City's responsibility.
Utilities spokesperson Debbie Ragan said massive amounts of water has been gushing through overflow gates for several days. She said any safety concerns are unnecessary.
“We completed a major rehabilitation project about ten years ago. Basically reinforcing the structure in the base of the dam.”
Ragan said the largest flow rate in the past 15 years or so occurred during flooding in 2007.
