No. 6 Oklahoma (27-5, 2-0 Big 12) scored in every inning and hit five home runs as it clinched the series over Texas Tech (16-19, 0-2 Big 12) with a 13-5, six-inning win Saturday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field in Lubbock, Texas. It was the Sooners' eighth straight win in league play dating back to last season.
Offensively, senior Shelby Pendley and junior Erin Miller each went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run to lead the Sooners. Pendley scored twice and drove in two with a walk, while Miller scored three times and also drove in two and added a walk.
Miller hit her fifth home run of the season, while Pendley hit her 13th. With the blast, Pendley moved into a tie for 10th on the all-time NCAA Division I home run list with Washington's Jaime Clark (2000-03) at 73.
Pendley also earned the win in the circle as she came on in relief to throw the final 4.2 innings. In improving to 8-1 on the season, Pendley struck out five and allowed two runs on four hits and one walk.
Also homering for OU were freshman Nicole Pendley (sixth of the year), senior Jessica Vest (third) and freshman Kelsey Arnold (first career). It was the third time this season that OU hit at least five home runs in a game.
The Sooners used 11 walks to aid them on offense. That was one off their season high of 12, and it marked the fifth game this season with double-digit walks.
