Three Motorcyclists Killed In Lincoln County Collision

Three motorcyclists were killed in a collision in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, Sunday night.

Three motorcyclists were killed in a collision in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, Sunday night.

It happened at about 6:25 p.m. on US 177 near State Highway 105 in Lincoln County. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by a Stillwater resident, whose name is being withheld due to age, was traveling northbound on US 177 when it ran off the roadway to the right, overcorrected to the left of center.

The car then struck a 2011 Harley Davidson driven by 49-year-old Steven Franetovich of Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Franetovich was thrown off the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 2005 Harley Davidson, driven by 20-year-old Clayton Franetovich, then struck the Chrysler. Clayton Franetovich was also thrown off his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third motorcyclist involved, 36-year-old Brian Bacon of Shawnee, reportedly laid his 2005 Honda Shadow down in an attempt to avoid the Chrysler, but it ran off the roadway to the right. Bacon was also pronounced dead at the scene.

All three motorcyclists were wearing helmets at time of the collision, according to the OHP. 

The driver of the Chrysler was not injured. A passenger in the Chrysler was transported to Stillwater Medical Center and has been treated and released.

Troopers have listed the cause of the collision as "left of center" in the OHP collision report. It is unclear at this time why the car left the roadway.
