Slick Road Conditions Reported Across Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is reporting slick and hazardous conditions on highways and bridges in several areas of the state.

Throughout Wednesday night, ODOT cautions any travel as roads will refreeze due to low temperatures. 

In northeastern Oklahoma, the Tulsa metro area has been impacted by snow and sleet. In northwestern Oklahoma, slick spots have been reported in Alfalfa, Harper, Major and Wood counties.

Cleveland County and Oklahoma County authorities are no longer working non-injury accidents.

Several accidents were reported, emergency crews were called to areas of I-40, I-35, and I-240 at exit ramps in the metro.

Injury accidents were reported at I-40 WB at Meridian, NW 122nd and May, and I-44 WB at Penn Ave in Oklahoma City.

Slick and hazardous conditions due to heavy snow continue in southwestern and western Oklahoma, including the I-40 corridor between Oklahoma City and the Texas border.

Crews will continue monitor conditions and treat roads with salt and sand throughout the evening.

Drivers should plan extra travel time and increase the following distance between vehicles to allow extra room for braking. They are also advised to stay at least 200 feet behind road-clearing equipment on the highway.

If drivers must travel out of state, they are urged to check area road conditions before heading out.
