Oklahoma Movie Theaters Prepare To Show " The Interview"

Terroristic threats cannot stop Sony Pictures from releasing the movie, "The Interview." A comedy based on a plot to kill North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-Un.

The movie is now available online and in select theaters. Some of which, are right here in Oklahoma.

The screens are black now but tomorrow Altus entertainment plans to fill those screens with the movie, “The Interview.”

This makes Heritage Theater in Chickasha one of only 200 theaters nationwide screening the movie after 9/11 like threats.

"There's no telling what could happen. I don't want to see it that bad. I'd rather they not show it," said Chickasha resident Carolyn Sanders.

A satirical comedy based on the assassination of a dictator has peaked the interest of Chickasha resident Carolyn Sanders but it's also peaked some concern.

"I don't want to have anything to do with it," said Sanders.

Sanders lives less than 200 yards from Heritage Park Theater. One of just five theaters in the state and about 200 nationwide that will show the movie "The Interview."

Even after threats from alleged North Korean hackers, The Guardians of Peace.

Who stated: “Remember the 11th of September 2001,” “We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time,” and “If your house is nearby, you'd better leave.”

"We just don't feel like our locations are a threat. If they were going to do something why would they choose little locations to do something," said Beth Tischler with Altus Entertainment.

Heritage Park is owned by Oklahoma based Altus Entertainment.

"A little bit (of hesitation) but after we reviewed everything no," said Tischler.

Chickasha police have not made any plans for extra security at the theater but officers are likely to make additional rounds if in the area.

"We're just looking at it as a situational awareness that somebody may try to do something simply because of something that was published on the internet," said Lt. Scott Weaver with Chickasha Police.

To Sanders those "what-if's" aren't worth the price of admission...

"I don't want to take chances on my life or my friends or family's life just to see it," said Sanders.

Currently the theater does not have any plans for a midnight showing. But will be open at 4pm Christmas Day.

Neither the Chickasha Police nor Altus Entertainment say they have been in contact with the FBI.

The movie has also been made available on YouTube and Google Play.
