An area high school football player is overcoming an incredible loss. But he's not doing it alone.
Christian Osterhout just wrapped up his senior football season at Crossings Christian School. Osterhout's father, Paul, died just before Christian's Sophomore football season began. His mother, Cathy, died from a rare disease three days before this football season began.
Acting on his mother's wishes, Christian moved in with Crossings Head Football Coach Chris Roberts's family shortly after his mother died. “No matter what happens I know Jesus Christ reigns, and that's what keeps me going,” he said, earlier this week. “Yeah it is sad, but I know I'm going to see them in the future. My mom's last words to me weren't goodbye, they were actually see you later.”
Christian has a twin sister named Candace. She moved in with an aunt in Yukon.
Christian and coach Roberts are finalists for an NFL award. Thursday, the NFL flew them to New York City to meet with NFL officials. They should know if they won first place or not, in the next month or so.
