A groundbreaking ceremony will take place Thursday for a school in El Reno destroyed in the May 31 tornado last year.
This is a day that a lot of folks have been waiting for. Almost all that remains of the Canadian Valley Technology Center right now is the skeleton of the school's main building. But soon, the site will be full of construction crews working on a brand new facility.
Since the tornado, students have been taking classes at a former car dealership in Yukon. But, at 11 a.m. Thursday, officials will break ground on a new school.
Two larger buildings will replace what were once nine buildings. There will also be five safe rooms big enough to hold 1,200 people inside.
Officials expect the new buildings to be complete by the year 2016.
