The Big 12 Conference announced on Monday that Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 59-14 win at Iowa State.
The sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, was responsible for six touchdowns and compiled 376 yards of total offense with 230 through the air and 146 on the ground against the Cyclones. His passing yardage moved him past Eric Moore (2,675) for 10th place in Oklahoma history for career passing yards with 2,870.
He joined current Sooners' co-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel as only the second OU quarterback to both throw for and rush for three or more TDs in the same game. Notre Dame's Everett Golson is the only other FBS quarterback to accomplish the feat this season.
Knight's 146 rushing yards were a career-high and he matched his season-long rush with a run of 31 yards. He has now recorded three 100-yard rushing performances in his career. Knight's three touchdown passes match his season high for TDs in a game and he has thrown for a career-best 12 scores on the season, surpassing his mark of nine as a freshman.
