Jesus House of Oklahoma City is collecting donations for its annual Thanksgiving food basket distribution campaign.
According officials with Jesus House, each year, the organization distributes hundreds of Thanksgiving food baskets on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving (November 24-26.)
The distributions will take place from 8 a.m. until designated supplies for the day are exhausted.
Items needed for the Thanksgiving food baskets include: frozen turkeys, frozen hams, boxed stuffing mix, chicken broth, turkey or chicken gravy mixes, instant mashed potatoes, canned cranberries or cranberry sauce, canned yams, chicken broth and canned vegetables. Dessert mixes and pie fillings are also appreciated.
“The Thanksgiving food basket campaign is a signature event of Jesus House which helps low-income households in Oklahoma City with groceries for Thanksgiving dinner,” said Mike Bateman, Jesus House executive director. “Last year, we distributed more than 1,300 Thanksgiving food baskets in the three days before Thanksgiving. We expect to exceed those numbers this year.”
Donations may be dropped off at the Jesus House offices at 1335 W. Sheridan in Oklahoma City until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25.
