OHP: Plane Crash Kills Pilot, Injures Passenger In Carter County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a pilot was killed and one passenger injured after a small plane crashed in Carter County, Saturday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a pilot was killed and one passenger injured after a small plane crashed in Carter County, Saturday afternoon.

According to the OHP report, a 1967 Piper Cherokee, piloted by a 63-year-old man, crashed around 2:15 p.m. Saturday, approximately one mile south of the Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport.

Troopers say the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.

The OHP report states there was one passenger, a 58-year-old man, who was transported to Mercy Hospital of Ardmore and later admitted in critical condition to the Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Details surrounding the crash have not been released.

Troopers say the crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration, and the men's identities will be released by the investigative authority.
