The University of Oklahoma finished 19th in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup for the 2013-14 academic year with a score of 902.75 points. The Sooners have placed in the top 20 each of the past five years.
Oklahoma enjoyed another record-setting year as six different OU squads claimed team conference championships in 2013-14 (men's and women's gymnastics, men's tennis, rowing, softball and women's golf. Three of those programs recorded their best seasons on record in 2014: women's gymnastics (national champions), men's tennis (NCAA runner-up) and women's golf (NCAA – 4th). The men's gymnastics squad claimed its fourth consecutive NCAA runner-up finish, while softball made its fourth consecutive trek to the Women's College World Series and rowing earned a second straight Top 20 NCAA finish.
In total, 26 Oklahoma student-athletes from seven different squads earned First Team All-America honors during the 2013-14 academic year. Kendric Maple (wrestling), Gabe Ikard (football), Lara Albright (women's gymnastics) and Sallie McLaurin (volleyball) all were named Academic All-Americans, while Ikard was named the Big 12 Male Sportsperson of the Year.
Sooner student-athletes registered their fifth straight semester with a 3.00 GPA during the spring of 2014. During the fall 2013 semester, OU teams earned a 3.06 cumulative GPA, the highest mark ever in a single semester for Oklahoma student-athletes.
The Directors' Cup is presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), Learfield Sports and USA Today to the best overall collegiate athletics programs in the country.
