Some of the biggest names in country music will be performing in Oklahoma City this weekend. Greats like Merle Haggard and Lady Antebellum will take the stage as part of the first annual OKC Fest.

Dozens of bands from different genres are also set to put on an amazing show.

"Who'd ever think that just below Devon Tower right here that we could come down and take this piece of concrete and make it a concert for the city," Production Coordinator Victor Sansone said.

"It's going to look like a sea of people," said Sansone. "Our ticket sales are excellent."

All eyes will be centered in the heart of Oklahoma City as one of the biggest music festivals takes place. Fans from all over will be in line to see huge names like Merle Haggard, Dierks Bentley, Scotty McCreery, Kix Brooks and Lady Antebellum.

"This is the greatest lineup you could ever imagine having for 35 bucks," Sansone said.

But preps are far from over.

"We got the largest stage we could find, this is like the bomb of stages," "Sansone said.

Just one of many stages that will be used for the 4-day concert event.

"We're getting all the physical, big pieces in place, the stage and sound and lights that are going to come in," Sansone said.

Food trucks are parked and getting set up.

"Oh, I was chomping at the bit to get in," Ron Colander of Colander's Kitchen in Choctaw said.

With close to 30,000 people expected over the weekend, the vendors are pumped.

"We're looking forward to a huge crowd," Colander said.

But no one's more excited than Mayor Mick Cornett to have this major attraction in the city.

"We've had some one-time events from time to time, and we're a good market for a music event, but we've never had something that was consistent, that we could market regionally or even nationally, and these are the first steps of making that a reality," Cornett said.

"We're always trying to draw attention to the arts scene in OKC," said Cornett. "A lot of people are looking for things to do and a vibrant place to live, and we want to be competitive in all those areas."

The headliners and additional artists will perform on the main stage in the old Ford lot, which is west of Chesapeake Arena, while several free shows will go on at the same time near the Myriad Gardens at the Plaza by Cox, the Great Lawn by ACM at UCO and the Rotunda by ITC Holdings.
