Authorities Search For Custer County Jail Escapee

The Custer County Sheriff's Office is searching for an inmate who escaped while on trusty status Sunday morning.

According to officials, 36-year-old Nicholas Todd Van Brunt stole a car at the Sheriff's Office in Arapaho around 10 a.m. Sunday.

The stolen vehicle is described as a black, 2002 Ford Escape with Oklahoma tag number 479-JKA. The vehicle has a missing "E" from the word, "Escape," on the back of the car.

Officials said Van Brunt has friends and relatives in the Yukon and Midwest City areas, but they have received information that he may be heading to the Canadian, TX area.
