Remembrance Ceremony, Heart Walk To Take Place In Downtown OKC

Two events could create a potential parking problem in downtown Oklahoma City on Saturday.

People will gather for the 19th Annual Remembrance Ceremony Saturday morning at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum.

But at the same time, there will also be the 2014 Central Oklahoma Heart Walk over at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. People will begin gathering there about 9 a.m., the same time the remembrance ceremony will begin.

The walk is a fundraising event for the American Heart Association, and takes an approximately three-mile path through downtown from Reno and Mickey Mantle, up to Main Street, over to Park Avenue, and will then end at Shartel and Sheridan.

Between 10,000 and 12,000 people are expected to be here just for the walk alone. So, if you're planning on coming to downtown, make sure to give yourself plenty of extra time to find a parking spot.

The 19th Annual Remembrance Ceremony will begin shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday. As in the past, 168 seconds of silence will observed at 9:02, reflecting the moment that changed so many lives 19 years ago.

Oklahoma City Bombing Timeline

Family members of the victims, as well as rescue workers, will be a part of this year's ceremony. Governor Mary Fallin will also be in attendance. The ceremony will then conclude with the reading of the 168 names of those who were killed.

Once again this year, Cox Communications will sponsor free admission at the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum.
