Last year, the Oklahoma Sooners laid an egg against TCU to close the regular season. There would be no such problem on Saturday.
Oklahoma shot 50.7 percent from the field and hit 14 3-pointers and cruised to a 97-67 win over TCU in the regular season finale for both teams.
With the win, Oklahoma (23-8, 12-6 Big 12) secured the No. 2 seed for next week's Big 12 tournament. The Sooners will face the winner of No. 7 seed Baylor and No. 10 seed TCU at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Kansas City.
The Sooners went 0-for-16 from 3-point range in last season's stunning loss to the Horned Frogs, but used the long ball to great effect on Saturday. Oklahoma shared the ball well, consistently finding the open shooter and racking up 25 assists on 35 made baskets.
Buddy Hield led four Sooners in double figures with 24 points and 5-of-8 shooting from 3-point range. Isaiah Cousins and Cameron Clark each scored 18 points, with Cousins knocking down a career-high four 3-pointers. Ryan Spangler added 10 points.
The loss left TCU 0-18 in Big 12 play this season and 9-21 overall this season. The Horned Frogs dealt with injury issues all season, but were not competitive for most of Saturday. TCU opened the second half with five straight turnovers after two missed shots on its opening possession as the Sooners used a 15-6 run to blow the game wide open at 68-44 with 15:09 remaining in the game.
Jarvis Ray had 18 points to lead TCU, which will begin renovations on Daniel-Meyer Coliseum very soon, now that the regular season has concluded. Kyan Anderson had 17 points and Karviar Shepherd added 10 points.
TCU shot 39.1 percent from the floor and had more than twice as many turnovers (13) as assists (6).
The Sooners used a 14-3 run in the first half to take a 23-13 lead with 11:29 to play in the first half on a Tyler Neal 3-pointer.
TCU kept the lead within single digits for most of the half, but OU closed the half on a 12-4 run, capped by Hield's 3-pointer at the buzzer to lead, 53-38, at halftime.
The Horned Frogs got as close as 16 in the second half, but OU hit four 3-pointers in a six-possession stretch, part of a 23-2 run that removed all doubt, and gave the end of the Sooners' bench some considerable playing time.
