Firefighters were able to quickly put out a fire late Tuesday night at the Life Church in northwest Oklahoma City.
According to the fire department, crews responded to the fire at about 11:30 p.m. at the Life Church, located on N.W. 178th and Pennsylvania.
When firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming from a small area of the roof. The fire chief told News 9 that new AC units usually have a user manual in a plastic wrap, and it's attached to the unit when it arrives. That manual is supposed to be removed before the AC unit is used. But that didn't happen here.
The manual began to heat up and caught fire. It then fell back into the AC unit and started burning the unit and wiring, according to the fire chief.
No other damage was done to the building. But the AC unit is a total loss.
At one point, Life Church made Outreach Magazine's list of largest and fastest growing churches in the country. Life Church has campuses around the metro, the state and in New York, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida. Not to mention its popular online community. So it's safe to say there are prayers of gratitude being said that no one was hurt, and the fire didn't do more damage.
