Norman Police need help tracking down three suspects, at least one of whom is believed to be armed. Police say a student was in his car, stopped at a red light, when the men surrounded him.
The student says he was headed to campus after visiting friends in Moore, when the 3 guys popped up and startled him with a pistol and easily got into his unlocked car.
"Flood Avenue is one of the busiest streets in town," said Tom Easley with the Norman Police Department.
A well-traveled Norman intersection became the scene of an OU student's worst nightmare.
"I'm calling from Dawes and Flood. I just got robbed."
The 18-year-old victim told Norman Police he was driving to his dorm just before 12:30 a.m. when three men dressed in hoodies and baggy jeans walked in front of his car as he was stopped at a red light on Flood Ave. That's when he says one of them opened his door, he forgot to lock, and pointed a gun demanding money.
"I'm good. I'm just in shock right now. I just can't believe it happened. They went toward Robinson on flood. They were running."
The robbers got away with $200. Police say it was an isolated incident, not common in the neighborhood.
"This is very unique to Norman. We very rarely have armed robberies and rarely a robbery of this nature," said Easley.
"It's shocking to me. I've lived here for 14 years and we've never had anything robberies, burglaries, nothing," said resident, Charlene Bradley.
The three suspects are still on the run Friday night. If you have any information, call Norman Police.
