Classes have been canceled Wednesday for Oklahoma City Public Schools due to very cold temperatures.
Tierney Tinnin, spokeswoman for the school district, says offices will be open and all staff including teachers should report to work on Wednesday.
News 9 Meteorologist Jed Castles says extreme cold has settled in. Single digit temperatures and sub zero wind chills are the weather story on Wednesday, and frost bite danger is a real issue.
As of Wednesday, Oklahoma City Public Schools have no more built-in inclement weather days.
Changes to the official calendar can only be made by the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education.
"The interim superintendent will make recommended changes as to when additional inclement weather days will be made up to the Board of Education after meeting with district senior leadership and the union employee groups," according to spokeswoman Tierney Tinnin.
The Oklahoma City Public Schools district canceled classes and activities on Tuesday because temperatures were not expected to get above freezing.
Several other school districts have canceled classes on Wednesday, including Alva, Woodward, and Waynoka public schools districts in northern Oklahoma.
