Authorities are investigating after skeletal remains were discovered in Bryan County.
Authorities say at this time, they will not release an exact location where the remains were found. According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, a local resident found a human skull on Sunday, January 26 and contacted authorities.
On Thursday, several law enforcement officials, including Bryan County deputies, OSBI agents, an investigator with the state medical examiner's office, and a representative with the Oklahoma Archeological Survey revisited the area and discovered other skeletal remains.
Investigators believe the body is that of a white man about 40 years old or older. The man, who has not been identified as this time, likely died between one and five years ago due to the condition of the remains, according to the OSBI.
Authorities say no missing person's reports in the area match this man. The medical examiner's office will attempt to extract DNA from the remains and enter it into a national missing person's database.
OSBI Forensic Artist Harvey Pratt may also reconstruct the skull.
If anyone has information to help with this suspicious death investigation or to help identify the man, call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
