A construction crew discovered a possible human skull in south Oklahoma City on Friday morning.
The crew was working at 3232 W. Reno when they made the discovery around 11 a.m.
"We [were] digging trying to find a gas line," Benjamin Cummins said.
Cummins and his co-workers were surprised to find something else.
"We thought it might have been a piece of piping first and then uncovered it and it was round and so we dug a bit around it."
The group grew concerned it could be a human skull and called Oklahoma City Police. Based on the initial investigation, police believe it is a human skull. More digging was done at the site to look for additional skeletal remains.
Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said investigators were trying to determine how long the skull had been there and what age the person could have been.
The skull was sent to the Medical Examiner Office and will then go to OU's Anthropology Department for further studies.
