OKC Police Find 188 Pounds Of Marijuana During Traffic Stop

Oklahoma City police discover 188 pounds of marijuana during a routine traffic stop.

On Wednesday, December 11, an officer pulled over the driver of an RV with California plates for not using a blinker when exiting I-40 westbound onto S. Meridian Avenue. According to a police report, the officer said the driver, 51-year-old Sheridan Ford Shepherd traveled several blocks onto W. Reno Avenue before finally stopping.

The officer went to the passenger side of the RV when the Shepherd met him outside. Shepherd told the officer he was headed to North Carolina to visit family. The officer was about to give Shepherd a warning but asked Shepherd if he could first run his K-9 Leo around the RV. After Shepherd consented, Leo eventually led the officer inside the RV to a cabinet in the back.

The officer searched the cabinet and found 11 boxes containing 165 bundles of marijuana totaling 188 pounds. The officers also found a wad of $20 bills totaling $4,000 wrapped in a rubber band.

Shepherd was arrested on complaints of trafficking marijuana and possession of drug proceeds. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail.
