It's finally time to pay the piper, or kiss the pig. We promised you that Chief Meteorologist David Payne would kiss a pig.
Now, David doesn't like to kiss and tell, but it was because of you that the pig smooches were made possible. The slobbery kiss was because David raised the most money at our booth at the Oklahoma State Fair.
That money was raised for the Regional Food Bank's Food for Kids program.
A lot of very generous visitors to the Oklahoma State Fair help feed some hungry children, and determine that News 9's David Payne will have to pucker up with a pig.
News 9 set up a booth at the fair this year to raise money for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma's Food For Kids program. Fairgoers who gave money to the program placed their donations in a specific News 9 anchor's box; the anchor they most wanted to see kiss a pig.
The person who collected the most money was Meteorologist David Payne. He collected $2,626. Here's how much the other anchors collected:
Kelly Ogle- $1,518
Stan Miller- $838
Amanda Taylor- $733
Jim Gardner- $484
Dean Blevins- $439
Jed Castles- $395
Bobbie Miller -$272
In all, News 9 collected $12,309.60 for the Food For Kids program, which included a generous donation of $5,000 from Continental Resources to the Regional Food Bank. The money will provide 61 kids with a backpack full of food on weekends and holidays for an entire school year.
