One of Oklahoma's Own receives an award from the Daughters of the American Revolution for his service to the community.
The Oklahoma City chapter hosted an awards breakfast Thursday morning. The organization hands out community service awards to recognize those who don't get much credit for the hours of unpaid work they do each year.
This year's award went to Billy Harrison, a long-time volunteer for the City Care organization. Billy is known for his work with disadvantaged adults and children. From cooking pancakes to helping build homes, Billy has done it all. Billy tells us it doesn't even seem like he's been volunteering for 17 years.
"It's one of those things you get here early and it's always hard to get up at 4:30, but every day that I do has been a blessing," said Billy Harrison, City Care Volunteer.
Billy also says he volunteers every Thursday, except for Thanksgiving. He says he will continue to help out for as long as he can.
