Oklahoma State's Courtney Dike was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week for games played Aug. 30-Sept. 2, it was announced by the league office today.
Dike continued her scoring ways to lead the Cowgirls to a pair of wins last weekend as she recorded three goals and an assist. The freshman forward tallied five shots in the two games, with three of those shots on goal.
In Friday's victory over Bedlam-rival Oklahoma, she scored a pair of goals, heading in a cross to tie the score at 1-1 and six minutes later winning the ball from the goalie and converting an open-net chance to put OSU up, 3-1. In Sunday's 2-1 win over Gonzaga, Dike factored in both OSU scores. She netted the first goal of the game by taking the ball from a pair of GU defenders and converting the chance, then recorded an assist on the Cowgirls' second goal, which proved to be the game winner.
Through four games, Dike leads the Big 12 in goals, points and shots. She is only the fifth Big 12 student-athlete to earn both the Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week honors in the same week.
