University of Oklahoma volleyball senior Sallie McLaurin has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 1.
McLaurin, a middle blocker from Midwest City, Okla., was named the Holiday Inn West Invitational Tournament MVP over the weekend as she led the Sooner offense with a .456 attack rate and 4.10 kills per set. The honor is her seven career weekly award from the Big 12 and second career Offensive Player of the Week distinction.
McLaurin totaled a team-high 11 blocks over a 3-0 weekend for OU to go with eight digs and four assists. Her high for the weekend was 17 kills in the opener against Milwaukee on Friday. McLaurin hit a weekend-best .517 in that match as she hit .400 or better in all three matches.
After on weekend of play, she is second in the Big 12 in hitting percentage and tied for fourth in kills per set.
The Sooners take the court Tuesday night for their home opener at McCasland Field House against Arkansas at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports.
