Some are calling comments about an OKC Thunder Girl offensive to just down right mean.
A Houston blogger posted an article with one of their pictures along with the question: Is she too chunky to be an OKC Thunder cheerleader? The six-paragraph article, posted Monday, asks readers to weigh in, and it has a lot of people talking.
"That's not fair showing someone like that and saying they're chunky when she's out there supporting her team doing what she can. And she looks good doing it," says Jeremy Cavazos, a Thunder fan.
"You don't have to be anorexic to be a cheerleader; I think they're just sad because they lost."
A blogger for Houston's SportsRadio 610 under the name Claire Crawford wrote that people have criticized the Thunder cheerleader for being "pudgy around her waistline," then says "she's beautiful."
"If she can cheerlead and do her moves all good and everything, then what's the problem?" says Thunder fan Brigit Curry.
Many fans felt the post was an attack on all women who don't look skinny.
"Mad that people would look at her that way because she wasn't a perfect 10," says Donna Holman of Oklahoma City. "That's just rude and hateful."
Houston's CBS Radio Digital Content Manager Anna-Megan Raley says in an email that the "article is the work of a freelance blogger, who isn't very polished, and it won't likely find its way to our sites again."
The Thunder Girl criticized, Kelsey Williams, responded on Twitter with "We wouldn't know what blessings were if we didn't go through trials. Thank you to EVERYONE for the compassion and love today."
Some Thunder fans say the article is simply part of the OKC-Houston team rivalry, but many fans aren't laughing.
"When I heard about this, I was upset" says Mary Romine, a Thunder fan. "And I think she should be upset because she's a beautiful girl, and I just don't think that skin and bones are beautiful."
The article has been taken off the website. Raley says she won't be available to discuss the post further until Monday.
