Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy released the official 2013 post-spring depth chart today and it features 17 returning starters off last year's team that tied for third in the Big 12.
At quarterback, Wes Lunt, J.W. Walsh and Clint Chelf are all listed equally after each player led OSU to conference wins in 2012. Lunt, Walsh and Chelf made Big 12 history last year by becoming the first three quarterbacks from the same team to pass for 1,000 yards in a season. That feat hadn't been accomplished at any school in the country since 1996.
Every player listed as an offensive starter on the post-spring depth chart has started at least one game in his career, while six of the seven most experienced Cowboys in terms of career starts reside on the defensive side of the ball in linebacker Shaun Lewis (32 career starts), cornerback Justin Gilbert (26 career starts), safety Daytawion Lowe (26 career starts), linebacker Caleb Lavey (26 career starts) defensive tackle Calvin Barnett (13 career starts) and safety Shamiel Gary (13 career starts).
Four potential first-time starters are listed on the post-spring depth chart in defensive ends Tyler Johnson, Jimmy Bean and Trace Clark and also linebacker Ryan Simmons.
Despite the return of veteran long snappers Andrew Suter and Connor Sinko, OSU is still looking to solidify special teams after the graduation of three-time All-America kicker/punter/kickoff specialist Quinn Sharp. Juniors Michael Reichenstein and Kip Smith both got a look a punter during the spring, with Smith and sophomore Bobby Stonebraker both logging reps at kicker during the spring.
The Cowboys open the 2013 season when they battle Mississippi State in Houston's Reliant Stadium on Aug. 31.
