The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels settled for a doubleheader split with the Southwestern Christian University Lady Eagles with a 9-5 victory in the second game Monday afternoon (Apr. 8) at Jack Allen Field. The Lady Eagles rallied to win the opener 7-6 in eight innings.
Tori Winters hit a two-run double to get the Lady Evangels going in the second inning of the nightcap and then added another RBI in a three-run fifth inning.
Autumn Lawrence and Tiffany Holt also drove in two runs, while Jackie Hilterbran went 2-of-3 and scored three times.
The Lady Evangels carried a 6-3 lead into seventh of the opener, but an error kept the inning alive and then a two-run single by Shayla Connor plated the tying runs.
Then with no one on and two outs in the top of the eighth, the Lady Eagles loaded the bases and a hit by pitch led to the winning tally.
The Lady Evangels were hurt in the first game by a pair of errors that resulted in four unearned runs.
