Oklahoma City University carded a round-one 325 and took a share of sixth place alongside Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders Classic at Corpus Christi Country Club.

Play was suspended on the par-72, 6,093-yard course in the second round due to excessive wind. The Stars, ranked No. 4 in NAIA women's golf, finished the round eight shots behind tournament-leader Lamar and ahead of six NCAA Division I teams.

Freshman Abby Thompson, of Edmond, Okla., led the Stars with a round-one 78 to snag a share of seventh place. Thompson finished the first round five shots off the lead held by Danielle Lemek of Bradley.

Senior Jessica Schiele, of Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, England, posted a round-one 79 to earn a tie of 11th place. Junior Elia Folch, of Barcelona, Spain, finished the first round with a score of 84.
