Oklahoma State men's cross country coach Dave Smith was named the CaptainU Men's College Cross Country Coach of the Year on Friday.
CaptainU, the largest youth and college sports network, chooses the top coaches in their respective sports and divisions for their teams' inspiring performances both on and off the field.
Smith is coming off coaching the men's cross country team to its third national championship in four years. The Cowboys (72) won by a 63-point margin over runner-up and defending national champion Wisconsin (135). The 72 points by OSU was the best team score to win the national title since Wisconsin in 2005 (37).
Off the course, Smith had 13 members of the men's team named Academic All-Big 12.
Smith was also named the USTFCCCA National Men's Coach of the Year and the Big 12 Men's Coach of the Year.
