A 9-year-old boy realized a dream at a youth football game in Bethel Thursday night.
Jason Smith Jr. has battled muscular dystrophy all his life. He lost his ability to walk a few months ago. However, Jason loves football. He says it's his passion. His father Jason Sr. coaches the Prague Red Devils of the Deep Fork Valley football league.
Jason Jr. is an assistant coach. With 10 seconds remaining Prague's game with the Shawnee Wolves Thursday night, a referee came up with the idea to give Jason Jr. the opportunity to score a touchdown.
With the game well in hand, Shawnee coaches and players completely agreed. So Jason Jr. put on a helmet and his teammates pushed him a good 30 yards down the field for a touchdown.
His dad captured it all on his cellphone camera.
"I really liked it when I was about to get into the end zone, and all my teammates surrounded me," Jason Jr. said.
