The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) has confirmed a state-owned plane crashed Tuesday afternoon into a river in northern Oklahoma.
According to OHP, the plane was piloted by someone with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife. It's believed the plane landed in a river near Gate Road and Traders Bend near Newkirk in Kay County.
There were no reports of injuries in the crash. It's not known exactly why the plane was flying. It may have been out surveying wildfire damage.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
