Keilani Ricketts was dominant Saturday, picking up a win for Team USA against Canada, as the US squad topped our neighbors to the North 9-0, in a five-inning game.
Ricketts pitched all five innings for the United States, giving up just four hits and striking out six in her performance. Marina Demore was credited with a loss after just 2.1 innings, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits.
The United States jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a bit of one-out hitting with runners on the corners. Kaitlin Cochran singled, allowing Michelle Moultrie to come home, followed by a three-run home run from Valerie Arioto to take a 4-0 advantage.
They capitalized on the same situation in the same way in the bottom of the third, however it was Arioto with the RBI single and Samantha Fisher who blasted the three-run home run, taking an 8-0 lead.
The US added one run of insurance in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly, scoring Michelle Moultrie.
The United States will be back in action at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, opening the third day of the World Cup of Softball against Brazil.
