RedHawks Use Late Surge To Top Nashville

The Oklahoma City RedHakws scored five runs in the final two innings Tuesday to open a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds with a 10-6 win.

Tied 5-5 in the top of the eighth, Scott Moore and Brad Snyder opened up the inning with back-to-back doubles, putting runners on second and third with no outs on the board. Nashville then intentionally walked Angel Sanchez in order to pitch to Carlos Coporan.

However, the Sounds surrendered back-to-back walks to Corporan and Jake Goebbert to score moore and Snyeder and take a 7-5 lead.

Two at-bats later, Sanchez and Corporan both scored on a catch error by Nashville pitcher Robert Wooten, taking a four-run lead.

Sanchez came back to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with a runner on second and two outs on the board, sending a ground ball to right field to bring Scott Moore home from second to take a 10-5 lead.

Sean Halton hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth, but the RedHawks retired the next three batters to end the game.

Mickey Storey (5-2) was credited with a win, not allowing a hit in his one inning of service for the RedHakws. Amaury Rivas (3-4) received a loss for the day, giving up three earned runs on two hits in 1.1 innings of service.

Oklahoma City will try to make it back-to-back wins over the Sounds at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
