An Anadarko, Oklahoma, man was killed after he crashed his car in Caddo County early Sunday morning. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say alcohol and speed may have led to the wreck.
It happened at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, on U.S. Highway 62, just west of County Road 1360 in Caddo County.
Austin Michael Whinery, 20, was driving a 2012 Nissan Maxima, westbound on Highway 62, when he failed to negotiate a turn to the right. Troopers said the car then ran off the roadway to the left and rolled two times. Whinery was thrown out of the vehicle through the driver's window.
Whinery was pronounced dead at the scene from head, trunk internal and leg injuries. He was transported to Steverson Funeral Home.
Whinery was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. His condition is listed as "drinking-ability impaired" in the OHP collision report.
Troopers listed the cause of collision as "alcohol and exceeding legal speed limit" in the report.
