STILLWATER, Oklahoma – OSU pitcher Andrew Heaney is having a pretty good week.
To start the week off, he was named the Big 12 and national Pitcher of the Week.
And on Friday, he threw yet another complete game as he helped Oklahoma State to a 3-2 win over Alcorn State.
Heaney allowed one earned run, three hits and recorded 11 strikeouts in the game with no walks. He moved to 8-1 on the season with the victory, with those eight wins so far being the most since Tyler Lyons had 12 in 2008.
OSU got on the board first in the third inning as Saulyer Saxon and Hunter Bailey picked up RBIs to make it 2-0.
Oklahoma State's third and final run of the game came in the sixth inning, yet again off the bat of Bailey. He drove Saxon to make it 3-0, Cowboys.
Alcorn State broke up the shutout in the eighth inning with a two-RBI double from Justin Barney to deliver the game's final margin.
The win moved the 25th-ranked Cowboys to 30-19 on the season while Alcorn State fell to 17-33.
The teams will meet again at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Stillwater.
