TULSA, Oklahoma – Keeping a dominating winning streak alive is one thing for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
But when you keep that winning streak alive by beating the Sooners in Bedlam, it's twice as nice.
OSU marched to its ninth-straight victory on Friday night with a 3-0 shutout of Oklahoma at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.
Pitcher Andrew Heaney was the man of the hour, throwing his third shutout of the season.
He struck out seven and allowed just three hits in the complete game, his fourth complete game of the year. He retired the final 13 OU batters of the night.
With Heaney's performance on the mound, Oklahoma State didn't need much offense to back him up, but it got more than enough in the third inning.
Robbie Rea drove in a run to get the scoring started, and Jared Womack quickly followed that up with an RBI single of his own to go up 2-0.
Even though it wasn't necessary, the Cowboys earned an insurance run in the fifth inning as Hunter Bailey singled to bring another run home.
OU's Jordan John also threw a complete game on the mound but fared slightly worse than Heaney. John gave up seven hits and three runs while striking out five.
With the loss, the Sooners fell to 29-18 overall and 9-9 in conference play.
Oklahoma State improved to 27-17 and moved its mark to 12-7 in Big 12 play.
The Bedlam series will now shift to Oklahoma City for Saturday and Sunday's games.
Saturday's first pitch is set for 7:07 p.m.
