NORMAN, Oklahoma – OU softball picked up its sixth straight series victory on Sunday with a 2-1 win against the No. 10 Missouri Tigers.
As usual, Keilani Ricketts did her thing, throwing the complete game and giving up four hits and one run.
She struck out 11 batters, which was her 16th double-digit strikeout game of the season.
All of the scoring in the game came in the first three innings, as the Sooners got on the board first in the bottom of the first.
Destinee Martinez singled to the right side to reach base, and she eventually made it home on an RBI from Ricketts.
In the second inning, Callie Parsons pinch ran for Jessica Shults. And Javen Henson picked up her 24th RBI of the season to bring Parsons home for the 2-0 lead.
The Tigers' only run of the day came in the third inning and was the result of two OU errors.
OU coach Patty Gasso said the victory helps their overall goal of being in a position to win the Big 12 Championship.
"We still have a rough road ahead of us so it was very important that we win at least two of three this weekend," Gasso said. "It was a fantastic weekend of softball and our players really fed off this great home atmosphere. Keilani did a great job at not paying attention to things that were out of her control. She made some big time clutch pitches and did some big time things out there today."
The Sooners will hit the field again on Wednesday as they will host another Bedlam game against the Cowgirls. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
