Thanks to a solid pitching performance and two big home runs, the Oklahoma Sooners came away with an 8-2 win over the Missouri Tigers Saturday, their third consecutive win.
John Jordan (6-4) got the start for the Sooners and was solid in his seven innings of service, giving up just three earned runs on eight hits, striking out four in the process. Blake Holovach (5-2) was received a loss for his outing, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits in 5.2 innings of service.
Tied 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth, the Sooners got two big home runs to overtake the Tigers and grab the win.
With two outs on the board, Max White drew a walk and Hunter Lockwood followed with a home run to left field to take a 6-4 advantage. Cody Reine drew yet another walk in the following at-bat, causing the Tigers to pull Holovach. It didn't make any difference, his replacement, John Miles, gave up a home run to Evan Mistich to take a four-run advantage.
Oklahoma will now try to go for the series sweep over the Tigers, closing out the series at 1 p.m. Sunday, weather-permitting.
