LUBBOCK, Texas – Dillon Overton has been a busy man.
For the second time in the past three weeks, Overton threw a complete game on Saturday, helping the Sooners to a 5-3 win at Texas Tech.
OU coach Sunny Golloway said he was proud of the effort, especially on the mound.
"Dillon was just Dillon today," Golloway said. "He's a special guy. You don't get freshman All-America honors for nothing and he has backed that up so far this year."
It was actually the first conference win for the Sooners this season, as they dropped three games to Texas to start Big 12 play and lost to Texas Tech in the first game of this series.
Overton had a long but solid game, giving up eight hits and two earned runs in his nine innings.
OU got things going quickly with RBIs from Jack Mayfield and Max White in the top of the first to lead 2-0.
All five of the Sooners' RBIs came from different players.
John Neely threw seven innings on the mound for Texas Tech, giving up four runs and seven hits.
Oklahoma moved to 14-10 overall (1-4 Big 12) while snapping a 10-game home winning streak for Tech. The Red Raiders fell to 15-9 (1-4).
The teams will conclude the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lubbock.
