The Oklahoma State baseball team dropped it second consecutive game Sunday, falling to the Houston Cougars 4-3, losing the season series.
Chase Stevens (3-1) struggled for the Cowboys, pitching just 2.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits before getting pulled and earning a loss for his work.
Houston did all of its work in the second and third inning, capitalizing on its base runners in both innings.
In the second with runners on the corners, Kendall Stacks hit a sacrifice bunt back to the pitcher to bring John Cannon home and score the first run of the game. In the next at-bat, Cory Kay doubled to left center to bring Casey Grayson home to push the lead to 2-0.
The Cowboys put a run on the board in the bottom of the second, when Trey Whaley singled to left field to bring Gabe Weidenaar home, cutting the lead in half.
However, a RBI single from John Cannon and a Grayson sacrifice fly to right field, pushed the Cougars' lead back to three runs.
Oklahoma State attempted to overcome the deficit, thanks to a Zach Fish solo home run in the bottom of the third and an RBI double from Jared Womack in the seventh, but was unable to come all the way back.
Codey Morehouse (3-1) was credited with a win, giving up one earned run on five hits and striking out five in 5.1 innings of service.
The Cowboys will be back in action at 6:30 Tuesday against Central Arkansas, before a three-game weekend series against Missouri.
