Texas Takes Second Straight Game From OU

NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Sooners badly needed to ease their losing streak, but instead they were met on Saturday with a heavy dose of the Texas bats.

The Longhorns handed the Sooners their fourth straight loss with a 9-5 decision, assuring Texas the series win after a 7-6 victory on Friday.

Texas used a steady stream of runs throughout six straight innings to keep the Sooners out of reach.

OU was able to get up 1-0 early after a fielder's choice brought home a run in the first.

But Texas scored four unanswered in the third and fourth innings to jump out to a lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Oklahoma was able to respond with some solid production of its own.

RBIs from Erik Ross and Max White brought the Sooners back into and tied the game at four.

But while OU's runs came in a concentrated burst, Texas brought the pressure throughout the game.

The Longhorns broke the tie with one run in the fifth and scored at least one run in each inning from the third through the eighth.

Jonathan Gray registered the loss on the mound for Oklahoma, giving up eight hits and five earned runs in 4.1 innings. Hoby Milner got the win for Texas.

OU fell to 11-8 (0-2 in Big 12 play) and will host Texas again on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
