Oklahoma City has been selected to host the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Regional.
The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee made the announcement Monday for both the first and second round and regional sites.
"As a committee we are excited that in 2013 our championship will be hosted by institutions from nine different conferences, with Delaware and St. John's hosting for the first time," said Greg Christopher, director of athletics at Bowling Green State University and chair of the Division I Women's Basketball Committee.
Games will be played in the Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown OKC and games will be played
either Saturday, March 30 and Monday, April 1 or Sunday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
Oklahoma City is one of four regional sites selected as Norfolk, Va, Spokane, Wa and Trenton N.J. will also play host to regional games.
"Having this geographic blend of sites is important to the committee as we continue to grow the game of women's basketball," added Christopher.
Other cities chosen to host first- and second-round games in 2013 include Baton Rouge, La.;Boulder, Colo.; College Park, Md.; College Station, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; Durham, N.C.; Iowa City, Iowa; Knoxville, Tenn.; Louisville, Ky.; Lubbock, Texas; Newark, Del.; Queens, N.Y.; Spokane, Wash.; Stanford, Calif.; Storrs, Conn., and Waco, Texas.
