Adrian Peterson Suffers Torn ACL Against Redskins

LANDOVER, Maryland – An MRI on Saturday confirmed that Minnesota Vikings and former OU running back Adrian Peterson tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in a game against the Washington Redskins, the team announced.

Multiple reports have also indicated that Peterson tore his MCL as well.

He was injured on his team's first play of the second half against the Redskins on Saturday on a tackle from safety DeJon Gomes.

Peterson said he knew "it was something bad" as soon as he was hit and said he was in severe pain.

A torn ACL and MCL will likely keep Peterson out of action for 8-9 months, putting the start of next season in serious jeopardy for him.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier will provide a further update at his weekly news conference on Monday.
