OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City family is reunited just in time for Christmas, and it's all thanks to another family hundreds of miles away.
The Rodriguez family was devastated when their dog Cruz disappeared right before Christmas. Cynthia Rodriguez says she looked for her pet for two hours, but couldn't find him.
Days later, Cruz ended up more than 350 miles away in Bryan, TX.
A Bryan city council woman heard about Cruz and wanted to help. She and her family were headed to Oklahoma City to see family and volunteered to take Cruz with them.
"We're gonna get to take Cruz home and reunite him with his mom and dad and they have a four-year-old daughter so they're really looking forward to getting him back home," said city councilwoman Ann Horton.
So they hit the road, and about six hours later they reunited Cruz with his Oklahoma City family.
Rodriguez says the reunion was emotional.
"You thought you lost this dog, you were never going to see him again, next thing you know these nice people bring him to you," she says.
"I think its just one of those warm, fuzzy Christmas stories and we're just happy that we get to be a part of it," said Horton.
The Rodriguez family doesn't know how Cruz got so far, but they think someone may have stolen him. Luckily he was wearing tags with their contact information.
