STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The Cowgirls put up an excellent defensive effort for the second straight game in a 69-36 win over Alcorn State on Tuesday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Though the game was knotted early at five points apiece, OSU used a 10-0 run to break free and was never challenged again.
The Cowgirl defense stepped up at the end of the first half, holding the Braves to just six points over the final 8:21 of the half to lead by 19 at the break.
Oklahoma State shot only 29 percent in the second half but still managed to extend its lead throughout the duration.
OSU forced 24 turnovers and allowed just seven field goals in each half.
Juniors Lindsey Keller and Toni Young tied for team-high honors with 13 apiece.
OSU returns to the court on Dec. 4 with a trip to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the Hoosiers. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m.
