A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision while going the wrong way on Interstate 40 in Washita County. The rider hit another vehicle head-on early Saturday morning, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The fatality wreck took place at 5:51 a.m. on eastbound I-40 in Washita County.
According to the OHP accident report, a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Anthony S. Tucker, of Porterville, California, was westbound in the eastbound lane, traveling at a high rate of speed. Tucker, 26, collided with an eastbound 2003 GMC Envoy driven by 24-year-old Dakota R. Buckner, of Elk City, Oklahoma.
Tucker was thrown about 150 feet from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kawasaki traveled about 373 feet east of the impact before catching on fire, according to the report.
Buckner's vehicle rolled once, coming to rest 210 feet east and 64 feet south of the crash. He was taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center with leg injuries. Buckner was treated and released.
Troopers said the cause of this collision is still under investigation.
