CLEVELAND, Ohio -- After a dominating performance against the Texas Longhorns, senior defensive back Jamell Fleming was named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week.
In the 55-17 win in the Red River Rivalry, Fleming turned in a career-high 13 tackles – 11 solo – two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble return for a touchdown. Fleming was put on the preseason watch list for the end of the year Thorpe Award.
Fleming is the second player to win this award, Javon Harris garnered the honor after a two-interception performance against the Florida State Seminoles.
