BYNG, Oklahoma – Deputies in Pontotoc County have arrested a man suspected in the death of his 14-month-old daughter.
The baby's mother called deputies just after midnight Tuesday, October 11, to report her daughter was unconscious and unresponsive. When emergency crews arrived, they found the child in a bedroom. She was being held by her father, Riley Walker.
Deputies and medical crews both noticed bruising on the child. Ambulance workers also told deputies the baby was already cold they began to examine her.
Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian says Walker told deputies he squeezed the child because she was crying while he was trying to play video games.
Sheriff Christian says Walker also admitted he'd hit the baby on several occasions but didn't think he'd hit her hard enough to cause any damage.
Walker now faces child abuse and murder charges.
