STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State freshman LeBryan Nash was named the Big 12' preseason Freshman of the Year for men's basketball, the school announced Thursday.
"It's an honor to receive this award, but I'm more concerned about helping our team win championships," Nash said via press release. "I look forward to working very hard to help Oklahoma State be as successful as possible and to win a lot of games."
In addition to being selected as the conference's player of the year, Nash received enough votes to be mentioned as the preseason All-Big 12 list as an honorable mention. He becomes just the third OSU player to receive a major preseason award, following Adrian Peterson and Mario Boggan.
"LeBryan is a very talented individual," said head coach Travis Ford. "He's more interested in helping this team win a lot of basketball games. When the team is successful, the individual honors will come."
Oklahoma State officially begins practice Oct. 14 and will play its first exhibition game Nov. 2 against Panhandle State. It's first regular season game will be against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Nov. 11.
